How can we know if you don't tell us what size tank you have.

Keeping more than onen species of tetra shouldn't be a problem in general terms. In the wild dozens of different species share the same habitat. A few species are known to be a little nippy but rummynose and x-ray tetras are pretty tranquil. Of course how many you can keep is dependant on the size of the tank, filtration, other tank mates, mantinance schedule and other factors.

as previously stated, it all depends on the tank and filtration

most tetras will mix happily enough. fin nippers shouldn't be an issue with cardinals, but you may wish to choose a more peaceful sp anyway.

also worth noting, a big school looks more impressive than 2 smaller schools of different sp (but when you get really big numbers, then 2-3 sp of 30-40+ each that works quite well)
