Hi yall! I just got my cascade 1200, it has 4 trays i can play with. I hope i get a ton of replies on this as i like to see how everyones set up is..... From bottom to top i have coarse and fine sponges in tray 1, then biomax with coarse sponge on top on tray 2, then bioballs in tray 3, and lastly some thick rock crushed coral with sponge on top as my last tray. Please be easy on me, im a newbie. Thx in advance!

There are dozens of options that will work...one likely no better than the other.

I have the same in bottom trays and top trays. In between I have plastic scrubbies for some filters and sintered glass balls in other filters. I see no difference whatsoever other than cost. The balls are expensive and the scrubbies are $1 for a set of four.

I use 2 1000's, each have 3 trays. From the top down...
Tray one: Bio Floss, Ceramic rings
Tray two: Bio Floss, Ceramic rings
Tray three: Coarse sponge, Bio Floss
