Hello :D

there are Aulonocara jacobfreibergi females and Protomelas spilonotus males in my tank.

my Aulonocara jacobfreibergi females started to have eggs since Protomelas males had begun to court.

there is NO male Aulonocara in nuptial color.

and surprisingly the eggs were fertilized and hatched...

can Aulonocara jacobfreibergi and Protomelas spilonotus hybridize?

please let me know... I'd reeeeaally like to know.

thank you.

In a word.. Yes.

I would say that almost all Mouth Brooders have the ability to hybridise.
I had a Copadichromis Borleyi that would breed with the female Alonucaras in my tank and they
are not even familiar to Borleyi females.
