I've been told he's tropheops of some description, just can't find exactly which one.

May just be an interesting hybrid. Does seem somewhat similar to a Labidochromis "Perlmutt" but doesn't match

Looks similar to a zebra red top but honestly could very easily be cross between a yellow lab and just about any blue species mbuna as well. I have several cross breeds that are similar.
