I went to hot cichlids yesterday and bought eight Callochromis Pleurospilus that are about 2.5 inches. Any way today the male started breeding with one of the females. My question is how long does it take for them to spit.
To spit, usually 24-28 days depending on what else is in the aquarium with them. In many cases the female can take the fry back into the mouth again for another 14 days.
how big are they when they get out? should i let them spit out in my 100 gallon tang comunity tank or strip the babies out. My 100 gallon has mostly shell dwellers and small cyps.
I agree, this particular species seem to develop quicker IME. 3 weeks, i'd say strip at 15 days if you choose. Or at that time move female to salvage fry. I didn't see much aggresion in tank but then again i had 12-15 of them in a 30g breeder.
