Hello,

I was just wondering is there any way to get the white calcium build up or whatever it is off of a plastic surface? Any luck with anything other than scraping because that tends to scratch my filter hood and my tank top.

Try using white vinegar, that should remove the deposits. Just rinse well with water when you are done.

muriatic acid....it will remove calcium scale but will also disolve plastic membranes ect. But if all you want to clean is straightforward moulded plastic parts then this stuff is the last word but you need to watch it ..when the calcium is gone then rinse thouroughly with water.
