I did a search, and found posts with similar questions, but no real answers.
I've had my yellow labs for about two weeks now, and was lucky enough (I think) to get a small harem of 1 M 3F. The past three mornings, the male seems to be shivvering like crazy in front of a rockpile in the far right of my tank. He also seems to chase around the largest female whenever he's not doing this, or begging for food.
She's now taken to hiding a lot more than she usually does, sometimes even ducking behind the filter (which I hear is a classic sign of agression going too far). Of course, he then stays just by the filter (which is just behind the rockpile) and shimmies like crazy. She will then sneak out the back route, and go off to the other side of the tank until he notices - resume chase.
The bit that's weird to me is that they are juveniles - about 6cm long (thats approximately an inch and a half).
Does any of this sound normal?
Oh, they're in the tank with a small group (4 also) of metriaclima callainos, and it's a 55 g. Tested this morning and it was 0 NH4, 0 NO2 and 12 NO3 (that's mg/l). Ph is a solid, wonderful 8. GH and KH are both around 16.
