I haven't posted in a long time, but I wanted to get some input on this....

A friend of mine is going to try to get me a tank for free from this restaurant that he's going to rebuild. The tank is 78"L x 36"H x 16"W. About 195 gallons.

I love CA cichlids. I don't really want anything else. What could I keep in there considering the shape and size of that tank?

Thanks. :thumb:

The only real limiting factor is the 16" width. I would say any cichlid under 10" would work, under 8" would be ideal. This gives you a lot of options. Are there any that you are particularily interested in?

Hi InStere0,

You do have a lot of options with that tank. In addition, you can attempt to have some non-cichlids to utilize the extra height of the tank.

Do you want paired fish? A community of single species? Larger fish? Smaller fish?

One of my favorite CA cichlids is Herichthys carpintis. You could probably do a H. carpintis and two pairs of smaller growing cichlids.

Thanks,
Matt
