Not sure if this is the correct section for this, if not, please feel free to move.

Ok, so I am wondering and looking into buying fish online.

Where I live there isn't really and abundance of places to buy from.

We have 2 specialist shops. 1 is good and has a very good reputation. The dudes fish are always very good and sold at good prices. The problem is his selection is not very big at all and although he says he can order in, he never seems to get them in for you.

Also his advise of late has worried me, such as telling me Kenyi will be fine and pose no issues in my Malawi tank as they are not aggressive..... to which I have found out otherwise from some helpful dudes on here :thumb:

The other shop, well they have a larger selection but are priced slightly more expensively and the past couple of times I have bought fish, they have come with a free disease!!!

Lastly, we have a Pets at Home. Basically a chain pet store where the handlers know little about fish and they give me the fear when trying to bag them up

So in order to get what I am looking for, I thought I would look into buying on line.

Have any of you guys done so? What has the experience been like?

Would it be naive of me to think that the fish will usually turn up in a good condition and be healthy after all the travelling/shipping?

I take it it would be along the same lines as fish being delivered to the LFS but missing out a stage as they are coming straight to me?

Any advices or tales would be much appreciated and if anyone can recommend dealers in the UK, well that would be grand.

Cheers guys :thumb:

I order a LOT of my fish online...maybe a dozen experiences and ten times all fish arrived perfectly healthy with no losses.

I would not hesitate at all.

I've purchased almost all of my fish online because I get a better selection, and price, even with shipping. It's just like anything, check them out. Find a site/forum that reviews online breeders in your area. Look for the guys who just breed and sell, not the shops that are looking to make a buck by also selling online. Not saying that can't produce good results, but I've done better with the ones that aren't also a retail shop.
