From the location and the shape of those two marks, it looks a lot like this Cichlid has experienced a mechanical injury.
In other words...
He ran into something and knocked a couple scales loose on his head. I would recommend keeping an eye on it, and observe for further symptoms or worsening of the wound sites (reddening, inflamation or major swelling). If there are additional symptoms, treating the water with salt in the aquarium will be supportive and help to control/prevent the spread of secondary infections.

- Freshwater Aquarium Salt Treatment Recipe: Add 1 tablespoon (Tbsp) of salt per 3 gallons of water.

And as always..... you may want to increase the rate and percentage of water changes to drive down measurable Nitrates in the water of his aquarium. Maintain the salt treatment. Reducing the measured Nitrate PPM in the water, will reduce stress and help to promote stronger healing of your fish's wound sites.
