My cousin and I have a tiger Oscar that we bought from PetsMart, it was kind of washed out in it's orange striping and we were wondering if we feed it good enough food, will it's orange color come out? I heard about using Keratin rich foods, however i could not see the words Keratin in the ingredients list of the food i bought it, the food is

Hikari Cichlid Gold, Floating type in the red package

Diet is important but so is water quality. Test your water and then make sure you're performing weekly partial water changes of 30-40% using a good quality declorinator. If there are other fish in the tank with this Oscar then his color or lack of color may be a reaction to them.
Your fish may also just need to mature a bit before he shows good color. You've chosen a very good food to feed him so I wouldn't worry about that. Feed him one small feeding a day and as long as his appetite is good and he's swimming around the tank normally I would say that all he needs is a little more time.

Okay, that is good to know, he was kept in the Petsmart tank with 4 other oscars (not as big as him) so im guessing that is why his color is washed out, it has only been 2 days since we got him, and he is barely stating to get into a good mood (he was sulking for a bit) :thumb:

It can take a week or so before a new fish settles in to a new tank. That's probably it.

Good luck with him. Oscars are such great fish. :)

Yeah, man today i had the scariest moment ever, I woke up and turned on the light of my aquarium, and saw white dots on my Oscar (which I named Spot), i nearly was brought to tears, turns out, he just had been lying in the sand :p
