I have a male OB red zebra mbuna. He is definately trying to breed with the female OB. But i swear he is trying to bred with the female maingano as well. is this possible to do at the same time.

Yes mouthbrooders crossbreed especially if there are not enough females of their species...4 females is a good number.

But aggression behavior can look like spawning behavior as well.
