I have some questions

My firemouth and flowerhorn have been acting weird lately, i cant tell who is male or female of the 2, but the flowerhorn is 5 inches and the firemouth is 3.5ish. They follow each other....nip each other lightly and the firemouth goes on his side when the flowehorn trys to nip him....they dont chase each other or look aggressive....even if they are swimming together the firemouth flares his gills randomly and will act like he's eating and shakes like crazy facedown, upside down sideways, and the flowerhorn just watches and they resume following each other and then the flowerhorn will start digging and moving substrate. I dont know if they are courting or not, but i just did a water change and my temp ranges from 81ish at night and 82-83 during the day and it is a 55 gallon tank currently

Those are the signs of something happening between the two.
