does anyone know when a blue peacock starts to really show its color? I'm not sure if i got a male or female, its mostly grey right now but its starting to show a nice metalic blue on its face & slightly on its sides.
This depends on a large number of variables. 1. Which species you have. 2. What else is in the tank. 3. Whether this fish is dominant or not. 4. A territory to defend.. 5. Females or not... and so on.
Anywhere from 1.5" to 3.5" is a size that is completely normal for a male to colour up fully for the first time... and some might never colour up. The more dominant, the sooner they'll colour up.
Thank you. I knew there would be a large number of variables involved, I just wanted a general idea for when I might be able to tell if it was a male or female because I'm trying for an all male tank.
