I recently purchased what was sold as a blue acara however
alot of the pics *** seen of gold saum look very close how
do you tell the difference
i should add the the fish in question is aprox 2in long
please help

the two fish are commonly confused. there is a thread under south american cichlids (shouldnt be too far down from this one) titled "blue acara pics" discussing this same topic. maybe there will be some helpful hints on there. i have no experience with either so im sorry i cant offer any help. check out the other thread. good luck.

try shining a torch/bright light on them, if they tend to reflect a green/yellow color then prob it's a G/S if the color is blue/green then blue acara. If i saw a foto i could tell you. Maybe!!
