OK my 4 JDs are young just starting to show some colors at around 2 inches maybe less. Ok my question is, I know how to identify between males and females, but is it not possible to sex them by the lower gill coloration at so young cause the females may not have it yet. Because if I look at them now, it looks like its all males.

I’m breeding Dempseys so I’ve recently gotten many many chances to look at young one’s and attempt to sex them…

I’m finding that at about 1.25â€
