I had a nice pair of marble angels a while back but sold them and am now kicking myself for it. I'd like to switch over my 29g to a planted tank with some angels. I think I'll pretty much follow what the cookie cutter has for stocking but since I'd like to get a pair is it ok to start off with 5-6 younger angels and then remove the others as they pair? I really only want to end up with one pair and prefer if they chose each other (I find this usually works out best)

Yes that will work, although there is no guarantee of a pair. When pearlscales first came out years ago, I bought 6, randomly chosen from a tank, and ended up with 6 males.

Yes, I know that can happen. But my odds with 6 would have to be better than with 2 :lol:

Actually I have had something similar happen with some topaz cichlids I got. Out of 5, 4 seem to be males, at least I have one female for sure!

Your odds of getting at least one pair of angels out of six are very close to 90%.
