Hi ^_^ I have an albino Cichlid. His eyes are red, the pupil, was wondering if that ment he is blind? Hes about 4years old now. Happy and healthy, just wondering. Thanks for any help :)[/img]

Red eyes are normal for albino fish. I don't think your fish is blind, although, as far as I know, albinism does go with sensitivity to light. I am happy to be corrected here.

his eyes are red cause an albinos dont have any color pigments, the natural color of the retina is red(cuz of the blood vessels), so it is why your cichlids eyes are red.. Since he doesn't have pigment in is eyes to colour them, you re seiing the retina...

Thank you 4 response :) When ever i do a gravel clean to the tank he doesn't seem to be bothered, at all. Hes really mellow, I just thought maybe because he couldn't see. I'd post a pic just took of him tonight but idk how? Again thank you :wink:
