Should I be concerned about the possibility of water siphoning out to an air pump located below the tank during a power outage? The air hose runs over the rim of the tank so I wouldn't think it would but I'd be looking for a new place to live if the contents of the tank ended up on her hardwood floor.

Thanks in advance.

definitely put a check-valve inline.

Years ago, I went out of town and roomies turned off the lights on a planted tank for two weeks. Another friend came over, saw the dying plants, and decided they needed bubbles from the airstone (turned off by me) so she blew into the airline, somehow started a siphon, and drained half the tank by the time I came home!

As stated, check valves are a buck.

Yup +1 on the check valve, Had this happen to me a few times while just shutting power off for cleaning. Not much came out since it was only off for like 15 min, but if your not home or awake you'd better start packing them bags.
