I recently switched to cichlids and i went with a saulosi species tank..

Now I have this saulosi which chases away other female saulosi. Its all yellow but have faint black bars on its forehead.
I dont think its a colouring male since its double the size of my colouring males and it totally ignores the males.
Is it normal for one female to be agressive towards other females?

I dont think they are the same age. I got them as juvies but size differed and they are still growing. And it doesnt appear to be holding either.
Its weird, i didnt expect for female cichlids to do this. I tought only males are territorial.

I agree with Loki,

This is normal, especially in female heavy species tanks. I had this problem with several saulosi females. (all who have held eggs) eliminate one another. Lost a few wild caught females from this exact female alpha dominant aggression.
