I recently put a group of 10 Nyererei in my 55g. 1m 9f as far as I can tell right now. Fry will not be saved in the tank, the females will be pulled and stripped and go into a grow out tank. I'm considering adding another species (probably mbunas) but not sure. My thought was to try and take some attention off of my females so they don't get overly harassed by my male. I've kept Nyererei before but only a male in my all-male mix tank so I'm not experienced in keeping them in a group like this. Not sure if its necessary or not. Any advice is appreciated

My nyererei showed better color in a species tank than in a tank with mbuna or haps or peacocks.

I had less than 9 females and they did not seem to be harassed by the male(s).

The male was drab without females in hap and peacock tank and almost black with mbuna. Females languished with mbuna, not healthy long term.
