Thinking of a new community 55 gallon tank.

I have brevis, caudo, calvus and cyps.

Option 1: Tropheus but small tank may not be ideal
Option 2: Xenotilapia with a small cyp or paracyp (calm tank)

any other fish that I could consider outside of the options listed above?

I see a lot of Julies in my LFS and there appears to be some naming changes like marksmithi or regani-kipili etc. Could you recommend 1 or 2 J-species that I could focus on? Also this would be a 6 juvie start and ending with a pair correct?

thank you

Julidochromis marlieri Gombe.

Yes start with six and end up with a pair. Sometimes they will tolerate more, but a pair is a good result.
