Finally decided on a new tank. I'm going to try the new Perfecto Deep Dimensions Tank with Starphire glass and built in corner flow 6'x3'x3'. I was originally planning on getting a 220 gal tank. My question is - what wet/dry setup would you guys recommend and also the pump to go along with it. I bought a Magdrive model 18 for the 220...but since I changed mind to 300 gal....is this going to cut it? Perfecto offers a sump specifically for these new dimension tanks...but I'm not sold on the design concept.

Thier are a lot of really good threads in the diy section of the Forum of people that have made thier own sumps much more cheaply then what's available out there. Imo a large tank begs for a large capacity sump. They are easily customizable and can be made of just about anything.

Find out how many gph your overflows will handle before making another pump purchase. Personally, I would go with 2 smaller pumps. Should you be away for an extened period of time and one of them fails for whatever reason you will still have water circulating through your system.

The sump can be made out of anything that will hold water. Another aquarium, a watering trough, plywood box with a pondliner......etc. The filter can be a bucket or plastic file drawers or anything that will hold mechanical and bio filter material.

If the diy route doesn't appeal to you then I would recommend getting the largest wet/dry system that you can fit in. The more water you can get circulating the better for your fish. :thumb:
