I like 8-10 males in a 48" tank. This is the correct level of overstocking. Lots of filtration and water changes and overstocking (8-10 fish) are what you need to keep the fish healthy...more does not help you have more fish.

The peacocks need to not look alike...maybe mix some haps because once you get a red, yellow and blue you start getting into look-alikes.
