I would recommend looking into the dwarf mbuna. In a tank that size, one, maybe two, small groups will be all you can fit.

A small colony of saulosi could be neat. 1m/6f?
I'm also looking to stock a 29g. Standard 29g is 30" x 12" x 18".
I'd like to have good mix of colors and patterns. I'm also looking at some tang ideas, but the colors on them seem to be more subdued overall than a lot of the mbuna species.
Any suggestions?
