I'd like to get away from using several small pumps for sponge filters and tumblers and such. I just bought two Rena Air 400 pumps for a pretty good price and would like to use them both. My thoughts are that I would make two manifolds connected in the middle with a small length (~12") of flexible tubing (one single manifold that isn't flexible would be difficult where I intend to put it). One pump would be connected to the left side of the left manifold, and one pump would be connected to the right side of the right manifold. Still with me?

Would there be any problems with this? Would a loop somehow be better? Any other better ways to do this?

I think the backpressure could be a problem, potentially. It may cause the diaphragms to wear out sooner. Jehmco has central air pumps, manifolds, diffusers, etc.

I wish I could go the Jehmco route, but I don't have the money to do so right now - which is why I was hoping I could hook these two up so they run together.
