Hi there

Currently I have one female blue Ram Cichlid that has been living in my 25 gallon tank for about 3 months now and I was thinking of buying another one.

Problem is that they are very difficult to sex, preferably I'd like to get a male so they could possibly pair up, but my LFS keeps hundreds and it is quite hard to find a male. All i've seen are females so far.

So my question: If, by accident, I get a female blue ram cichlid instead of a male, will this be a huge problem? I know that you shouldn't keep two males together in a tank that size, but will two females also be as aggressive and territorial as two males together?

a really good way to tell a male from a female.
This is from what I seen from my area..

The male will male solid black bars or patches on him.
The female will have shiny spots in the black bars or patches..
