hello all,
i just bought 180gal tank so Im moving my mpimbwe frontosa group into there and now have an empty 125gal which is going to be haps and peacocks......*** been reading about all male tanks and decided i want to try male/females.Most of the fish will be males but a select few will have females to spark breeding......as of right now i have in my 125 i have 7 wild caught Mpimbwe fronts, 1 foss. rostratus not sure of sex yet...and in my 75gal i bought 1 male aulon. ngara flametail,1m lwanda,3 yellow labs,1 looks to be a male proto. spilonotus(mara rock) and 1m/1f proto sp. insignus...
i was thinking about putting 1m/2-3f proto.spilonotus(mara rocks) or 1 male Champsochromis caeruleus with my group of fronts in the 180gal. what you guys think would be better??
125gal having:
1m/1f proto.sp insignus
1/2foss. rostratus
1m aulon.Ngara
1m aulon.lwanda
1m albino taiwan reef
1m bucc.lepturus or rhoadesii
1m/1-2f copad.trewavasae
1m placid electra
3yellow labs
i was wondering if thats a good number of fish in the 125 or can add more???any other suggestion of other fish?and will the females i have in their be a possiblity of crossbreeding?
thanks chris

I think i would rather see the Fronts in the larger tank.

Having a Hap/peacock tank is really risky if you want to breed a few of them. It is suggested that you keep all males. If you want to breed you should be keeping it single species, in saying that i have never heard rostratus cross breeding with protomelas. And I'm preety sure there is a few other species that won't cross breed with either of them two like Nimb. Venustus, Dimi Compressicep. But there is always the chance and i would find it hard to distribute the fry.

Maybe someone else knows of some Haps that have a low chance of cross breeding when mixed together
