I have a 10 gallon tank that I was thinking about turning into a small Tanganyika tank. I want maybe a single brichardi cichlid and possibly 2 more small cichlids. If I make a few differently territories efficiently would this be possible?
Not really. I find 10 gallons too small for any Tang cichlid except for quarantine or medication. However, some hobbyists have had luck keeping 1 pair of brevis or 1 pair of multifaciatus: both are small, rather docile shell dwellers. Larger more aggressive cichlids won't take kindly to neighbors even without breeding concerns.
If you are interested in keeping brichardi, get a 20 gallon tank and get a group of them. :thumb:
I've heard of tons of people using 10 gallons and smaller for multis and brevis. I think that multis would be your best choice, as they are smaller, harem breeders.
