125gal Frontosa Fantasy

125 gallons

November 2005

Brief Description of Tank
I just couldn't resist buying some Moba Zaire Frontosas...when they came in, they were 2 inches bigger than expected...so the panic set in...I placed them in my 60 gallon, but I knew it could only be temporary. I went out and bought this tank. Now, the fish are clearly more happy and are alot more active!

I have since added Benthochromis Tricotis and Cyprichromis Leptosomas.

Good start I was doing the same when I went to fronts I came to the conclusion that plants and man made caves have no place in a frrontosa tank . They live to deep for plants to grow and the only caves that are down there are when a rock falls on another one . I have tried all types of different ways to set it up but the simplest looks the best IMHO take a look at my tank it will take you forever to find something you can look at everyday . But starting with Mobas was a good . PÄT

Nice tank Grandalfslair, I can't wait to see those beauties grown. Just 1 ?. Are you going to seperate the 3 different sub species of fronts when they are sexualy mature? You might get mutt fronts. Those Zaires are something. Take it easy, fishy.

Hi Fishy...Yes, in fact I may put them up for bid in the next month or so. The tank is getting too crowded with the juvies growing like weeds.

Nice, Gandalf, inspirational tank. How are those plants doing? I'm surprised they look that nice under the low lighting, especially the swords.

Wow, your tank is awesome!! Really like the fronts with that lighting and light sand. I wish I could get a bigger tank, but 55gallon is the biggest I can go right now, b/c I move around a lot and anything bigger than a 55 wont' fit in my car!!

No problems with the Frontosa eating the cyps...the Bulu Points were in there since they were 2" long...now they are 3.5"...I had a couple of cycling fish in there that were 1-1.5" that I thought were going to get eaten...nah, it didn't happen...these guys are spoiled with Krill, bloodworms and brine....and NLS!

Thanks all...I really love the way it looks now...it took about 50 tries to get the right aquascape for my taste...all the fish get along extremely well (right now). The TOTM is a complete surprise...especially finding out after a 2 week business trip to China/Hong Kong.
