Where else can you buy 2 lbs of quality flake for under $30. I placed my order April 1 and it was at my door April 6. Great packaging and big flakes. Was a little aprehensive because of a couple bad reviews on here but nobody is perfect and I decided to give it a try. Really glad that I did.
Two out of the five items that I ordered from Kens were the wrong item. It took a couple of weeks and more work than I wanted to do, to fix the screw-up Kens did on my last order. Not friendly at all when I spoke with them about the mistake.
Used em twice first time it did take awhile to arrive but he gave me a few samples. Just ordered again and it took around a week, but everything was in the box. The prices are great, everything is so cheap. I love the prices.
Everytime I go to a show and he is there I buy. Nice decent people. I brought an air pod air pump from him got it home and one side did not work. He then sent me another one at no charge not even shipping and did not ask for the defective one back. Great out standing people. The fish food he offers is good and at a great price also has a great selection.
Don't understand the problems people have had. I just placed another order and after placing it called them with a question about the veggie flakes.He called me back within 15 minutes! I asked about a sample of the spirulina flakes, and he said "No Problem! I throw in several samples for you at no charge! Just let me know what you think, and please order from us again!"
That's fast and friendly service. Who doesn't like a bunch of free samples?
It's nice to know someone actually carry the brand Xtreme Cichlid pellet food that my Cichlid really love. I placed the order Sunday and it arrive on Wednesday...that's pretty fast shipping. The package comes with a bag of HBH flake food, I guess it's a sample. Anyway, once the 5lbs food getting low, I'll reorder it again from Ken's.
I ordered about $100 worth of food from Kens and unfortunately didn't have a good experience like many of the others. My order took almost two weeks to get here. I have ordered many times from Big Al's, Jehmco and Drsfostersmith and they were way faster.
Anyway, when my order arrived I was missing an item and there wasn't an invoice in the box or anything stating as to where the item was. This is the first company that I have ordered from that doesn't have an invoice inside the delivery box (especially when there is an item missing). I emailed Ken's to let them know I was missing an item and got no reply. I ended up calling them to let them know we were missing an item. The man who answered was pretty short and not friendly and stated how busy they were. On the phone they told me the item was out of stock and they would reship (charging additional shipping) when the item was in stock. I'm really kind of irritated that they would charge my credit card for an item they don't have in stock and then ship out an order and not let you know where the item is!
Kens ended up issuing a credit for the item on my cc.
I will never order from Kens again. There are much faster and professional places like Big Al's, Jehmco and Drsfostersmith
Updated 3/31/2010 Last week I ordered a couple of 5LB buckets of NLS, a bunch of heaters and a 300' roll of silicone airline. I submitted the online order one afternoon and later that evening received UPS tracking information. The order was shipped the day I ordered it and arrived as promised two days later. Come on now...does it get any better than that?
Below is my initial review. Ken's selection of food and supplies is awesome. I ordered a box load of stuff late one afternoon last week and received an email later that night that the order had already been boxed and picked up for shipment. Two days later UPS delivered it and evrything was as I had expected it to be.
I really like his website. Products are pictured and fully explained. I think his prices are very competitive too. The shopping cart feature is dynamic in that it shows you continual updates as you add items what the total shipping costs will be, so no hidden surprises.
Ken's is definitely a favorite new retailer for me.

If you got a complete order, and everything works, lucky you. If for whatever reasons such as defective merchandises and/or missing products -- good luck to you!!! You won't be able to get them to call you back, you won't be able to get them to response to your emails.
I've been buying fish food from Ken's since 2006 and have been very happy with the product, price, & speed of shipment of the spirulina flake. He also always seems to throw in another product to test for free. I've also purchased the ceramic cichlid rock and some of my fish seem to like them.
