"Great water quality !!"
This filter makes great water,,,,I have to use horrible well water, that has a ph of 8+ and very heavy metals in it. The only down fall is the amount of water I get out of one cartrige,,,about 15 to 20 gal.
But without it, I wouldn't be able to keep my Discus in fine shape, with a ph of 6.0.

"Ok but not great useful to lower nitrates hardness etc."
Well first of all if you are buying this product make sure you go thru mail order as Lfs especially the chain ones have this extremely overpriced. Well like previously mentioned if you have extremely hard or polluted tap water you will have to frequently change catridges. Here in lies the problem. The catriges cost around $20. What I do is use 3/4 treated tap water and 1/4 of the water from this unit. Then treat that water with a ph product. This helps for me to lower the general hardness and nitrates.(as my water has low nitrates in then). So far this has worked I will post another review if otherwise. One more thing if you have mutiple tanks or a large one you might have to buy two or make the water ahead of time. As it is a low pressure unit it only makes about 10gallons of water an hour. Youre not suppose to try increase the instructions warn of this and if you do the unit will start to leak. I guess this sort of lets you know to reduce the pressure. Any ways its cheap almost as good or possibly better than Ro water and is easier and cost 10 times less than ro units.

"exalent alternative to RO"
this will produce water in quality nearly equal to reverse ossmosis, with a fraction of the initial start up cost. its very easy to use, as it requaris almost no skills to install.

i have found it has 2 draw backs.

1st, the cartergies dont last terribly long especialy with hard and/or extremly poluted water. my water is preaty hard and i get around 80 gallons before its used up. if you are dealing with large amounts of water, this is off corse a problem.

2nd, the faucet adapter is very leaky. i think AP needs to redesign it! and, if you mis the threads on the cap or improperly place the gasket, it can also result in FILTERED water loss. be very carfull when attaching the holder and lid.

other than that, its a great product that has made clean water for my reef and south amarican cichlids possible.

"Overpriced and ineffective"
This unit is overpriced and ineffective for anyone trying to do regular water changes. It is simply a mixed bed DI system with low capacity. 40 Gallons of production in most municipal tap water at best. Do yourself a favor and at least buy a system with 10" refillable cartridges. Or better yet, a good RO unit.

"Great Product"
This thing is is great if you are doing a lot of water changes or just are refilling. Makes perfect water. Buy this thing online and not in petstores. I have found it for $30 bucks online. The only complaint I have is that thereplacement cartridges cost $20 and they dont come with the chemicals you need to adjust the ph or electrolytes.

"Very good product."
I used this product for years when I had tropical fish that required pH 7.0. I went through plenty of cartriges because of my water supply, but fish were healthy and water was always perfect.

"great way to get "pure" water!"
this is a great product for any aquarium! its simple to set up and use and VERY
inexpen. some people bash the tap water filter, particuly that the water isnt as good as ro. well, just remember that it cost about a 10th of the cost of a typical ro unit and produces water of near equal quility - some evan say it is better than ro, but that seems like stretching it. the only down side is that the adapter is very leaky!
