" THE BEST SPONGE FILTER."
ATI sponge filters are the best design and most user friendly sponge filter for aquarium use. Perfect for tanks with fry or small fish. Different sizes and pre filter options. The fittings may wear and fit loose over time from cleanings and they donot come with an air stone.

"The BEST Sponge Filter Around!"
This is the BEST sponge filter I have ever used. Easy to use, and doesn't suck up my baby fish! Its low maintenance and easy to clean. I use them in fancy guppy fry tanks and they work great. Not the greatest choice for a display tank because it sticks out like a sore thumb. The pro line is even better because it doesn't clog as fast if your using a power head on the lift tube. A++ Lustar!
As other reviewers have mentioned, this sponge filter generally works great in breeding tanks. Only exception is for smaller fries. I lost two batches of blue ram wigglers to the filter as the female blue ram placed her wiggling babies directly on the surface of filter, which slowly sucked all the wigglers into the highly porous media.
sponge filters are great for breeding tank. tanks that does not have anything in them just your fry(no gravel, no plants, no rock, just plain), i would recommend this type of filter to any fish breeder.
The breeders Holy Grail! This is a must-have to prevent fry from not being sucked up into the filter. Some of my fish like to stay close to the suction, and a lot of my smaller fish eat the algae off of the sponge. Keeps the water crystal clear, and your fry healthy and alive.
I have two of these connected to Maxi jet 1200 powerheads in my 130g tank and they do the job well. They help keep my very fine carib sea sand from getting into the impeller of the powerheads and they remove larger debris from the water quickly which makes my canister not clog hardly at all. They are great for mechanical filtration, and biological filtration. They house a large amount of algae and bacteria that my smaller fish eat and it also helps remove toxins from the water. My pictus cat and pleco love the filter. I see them all the time in the best of cichlid specialty stores and I believe that says something on its own. I would recomend this to anyone with a tank that can support a larger powerhead.
The sponge filter is a great idea, unfortunately the design of this particular filter along with the poor sponge material make it a nightmare for breeders. The sponges on these guys are too fine and they shut down after a while and you dont know whether the filter is working or not. Even with frequent cleaning. I will use this filter again when they change the design and go with a higher quality more porous sponge.
It works well. Just make sure you squeeze it out outside of the tank as you'll get a lot of debris floating around in your tank. While not a powerfilter, it does a nice job for a sponge filter.
I like hydro sponges for brooder and hospital tanks. They also can be stacked which is a really nice feature. For the price you can't beat this sponge filter.
I run one in each of my tanks. They are especially effective if hooked up to a power head but do well with the air bubbles too. Perfect for that dead spot in the back of your tank where waste tends to gather. Supposed to rinse once a week, this is a pain, twice a month seems OK however.
