"I was skeptical but it works"
I had a Tropheus with bloat. His belly blew right open.He started eating but food would come out the hole in his side. For a week, there wasn't a noticeable change. I got a bottle of Melafix and after 2 days the hole is closing up. I couldn't believe it.It's also inexpensive compared to the "real" fish medications.I got a 16oz bottle for 10.00
Not too strong of a smell.Like my GF's hair conditioner.
I should have tried it a long time ago.It was that 'natural' moniker that put me off.I'm going to buy some Pimafix next.

"Outstanding preventive medicine"
I used this product on my Mbunas which get bruised all the time because of their behavior. It is not a pathogen cure but a band aid for cuts and scrapes. It is mild that it doesn't shock fish and has a pleasant smell. Every aquarist should have it on stock "just in case."

"Nice alternative to chemicals!"
I use this stuff religiously and it works very well! Speeds healing of wounds and fin rot or fin damage. It's very easy on fish, all natural, not a chemical or an anti-biotic, but it works! Love the stuff.

"Not To Shabby"
I Used This Medication A Few Times Over The Years, It does Work But Not My Favorite Medication To Use With Cuts Or Scrapes Since You Can Smell It Everywhere Once You Put It In The Tank.

One of my Peacocks had got beaten up pretty bad and had major fin damage. After using MelaFix for about 1 week the fins were in much better shape and the fish looked alot more healthy. Walmart sell this medicine fairly cheap.

"Not a cure"
Its not a cure, its more of a preventative. Works well for scrapes, cuts, torn fins, etc. Dont try to cure your ich or fungus with this.

"Okay, but . . ."
I absolutely love Melafix for helping wounds heal quickly and preventing infections. I had an oscar that knocked a quarter-sized chunk out of his head that was 1/8" deep. Within 2 weeks, it was completely healed.

That said, Melafix is NOT a true antibiotic or fungicide. There is absolutely no way I'd trust it to heal a full blown infection on it's own. For stuff like that you're better off with a real antibiotic or antifungus med.

Also, I'd like to add that if you can go to a pond supply store, you can get pond strength Melafix (5x as concentrated) for pretty much the same cost as aquarium strength Melafix. Where I am, a 16oz bottle of aquarium Melafix costs $13. I can get a 16oz bottle of the pond Melafix (which treats 5x as many gallons as the aquarium stuff), for $13.

"Smells nice."
I have tried this a few times, but I really don't notice a difference. I think salt is probably more effective and much cheaper too. I do love the way it makes the tank smell though.

"Overrated for anything but torn fins-read on"
Being a fish medicator at a wholesale fish importer in a previous life, I found this product to be a bit out of the ordinary. I own a gallon of it and use it for torn fins only. I've tried to use it for fin rot, hemmoragic septicemia, ulcers, columnaris and other bacterial infections in the past and had to change medications in order to keep the fish alive. If you want the analog of Neosporin, then go for it. If your fish are really sick, get a real medication.

"Safe, heals damaged fins"
Very easy to use and safe. I highly recommend it. Use this first and then figure out what could be any remaining problems. Works great on fin damage due to agression. Can be used with many other aquarium medications.

"Melafix first, figure out what's wrong later."
This is a great product. I use it every time I recive new fish. Great product when it comes to healing torn fins. With some sickly looking fish from the store it alwways seems to help them and make them better.

"It Smells Nice"
After losing more than half its tail in a territorial dispute, my 3.5" GT was in a 10g QT for 2 weeks. After an initial treatment of Maracyn to prevent infection the 10g w/GT received frequent water-changes with a dosing of MelaFix each time. The finnage grew back completely with most of its color. This reviewer gave a neutral score of "5" for effectiveness since it is difficult to determine whether to attribute the full recovery to the MelaFix or to the frequent water-changes. One thing is for sure, MelaFix has a nice smell.

"One of the best..."
I use MelaFix whenever I introduce a new fish into any tank, and it immediately reduces stress, increases missing fin growth, and helps eliminate any toxins that come along with the new fish. I would recommend that anyone use this for the same purpose, in addition to its medicinal properties. A great, cheap, effective product!

"Great product"
I can not say enough about this product. MelaFix is the best product no matter what illness your fish have. I have even started to add this to my tank ever other week. I can see fungus, scratches, etc heal within the week. Please try this.....

"Superior product"
This is a fish miracle liquid. I got a really beaten up Eureka red whose fins were torn to pieces and missing. Within 3 days of treatment the fins were growing back and his wounds were healed. He required no other medication.

"Help for hopeless cases..."
I was sceptical when I first tried it, but my when I received a Front that was so beaten up she couldn't swim away from the filter intake, I decided to try it. She's had 7 days of treatment, and frankly I'm thrilled she is even alive, but she also has noticable fin growth. I also add it to my 55g whenever anyone looks a little frayed, and it seems to help.

"Excellent "all-arounder""
This stuff is GREAT. I buy a big container of it from Petsmart for something around $15 Canadian and it lasts a LONG time. I use it whenever I add new fish to the tank, notice damage on fins/body of other fish and even when doing water changes. It makes the water smell nice too!

Couldn't recommend this product more highly. Nothing but positive results with it.

"Top Notch"
I purchased some Melafix after discovering a large (dime sized) open wound on a bala in a community tank. I followed the directions to the tee, treating the whole tank and it worked wonderfully! Noticed a difference in a couple of days. It had no ill effect on the other tank inhabitants nor the biological filter. Very happy with the product.

"we are very happy with this product!"
We only just started to use this but wow are we happy…… we even went out and got a big bottle just to keep on hand at the sign of torn fins and such. Every time we have used it we have notice fast recovery of fin damage.. so far that is all we have used it for.... And if you like the smell of tea tree oil then you will like it even more LOL……

"A must have"
Has never failed to provide me with remarkable results.
I use it as directed in a small hospital tank to save some $$. All natural. All good. Can't think of anything negative about it other than cost.
