To be honest I don't actually own one, but I work at petsmart where lots of people buy them (they are actually called top fin at petsmart) and I have never seen any one complain about any product more than these. I swear 1 out of 2 of these things must fail within a year. I would NEVER buy one of these EVER.
Not a good filter at all. As mentioned in other reviews it has a VERY small area of filtration. The only reason I tried one was because it came with the 10 gal tank we bought for quarantine purposes. It might work on a 2.5 gal or 5 gal with a guppy or three, but don't bet on much more than that. The only good thing I can say is that it truly is silent. It's the most silent filter I've ever seen. I had to look at the water flowing at the surface to make sure it was really working!
I like them and tell people its worth the lifetime gurantee, filters change easily. Let alone the water flow control.Yes mine eventually leaked and they replaced it, but not everything is meant to last. I was upset, but that was because i have to drive about 60 miles to shop at petsmart. Guess i have better luck then the rest.
This thing is the worst filter EVER!!! I have never had a worse filter in my 6 years of fishkeeping. I put it into my tank and the whole thing cracked. I took it back to petsmart to get another one. After 2 days the thing just stopped. i had no idea what happened. So i returned it for a Aquaclear. I would definitly say that this is worth buying. Ill tell u what they are: a waste of my money. never even think about buying this piece of %$#@ with a motor.
as it has been said this filter is a money pit... the filters clog very quick, and are virtually impossible to rinse... however, after reading the other reviews and a little thought, i decided to customize my Proquatics 300... i bought some filter pad (really cheap) and removed the goofy filters that come in the box, put a layer of filter pad in the bottom, a media bag(or panty hose w/media) on top of that, and then another layer of filter pad... i have had it running this way for about 1 1/2 months now... it works great... the filter does move alot of water, and with the extra space for media, and double filter pad, it really has worked out nice for me...
Brian Perry has used this product for 3-12 Months.

"Mondo trasho"
These "pressure filters" are without question some of the most useless, most inane trash being pushed at aquariasts. Unlike other filters which pull tank water through filtration media and back out, these filter push the dirty water through the filter in a reverse direction. It apparently never occurred to anyone on the design team that the media would clog and the dirty water would just flow over the top and back into the tank without being filtered. This situation is made more ridiculous by the almost nonexistent amount of filtration media being used to filter the water. Be afraid, be very afraid.
These filters truly are junk, the first one leaked 3gallons on to the kitchen floor.Petsmart was good about replacing it, but then the replacement filter started the same thing a slow drip where the motor meets the housing.
The quality of these filters are decent. But the amount of filtration area is just too small. Even Barbie would have problems wearing something so narrow. The tube of filterfloss gets clogged up too easily. The motor and housing is of decent quality and there is little operational noise. If you're on a budget, you're better off with the TopFin's built by Tetra.
