All these features make it the choice of experienced aquarium hobbyists.
Available in 6-inch length 25 & 50 watts, 10-inch length 75 & 100 watts, 12-inch length 150 & 200 watts, and 14-inch length 250 & 300 watts
The fact of the matter is that every company that has made heaters have seen there share of horror stories related to there product. It seem as though no matter what technology improvements they come up with they will not be able to make the perfect heater. Just like any other product they are destined to fail at some point. The Visi Therm is one of very few heaters sold that come with a lifetime guarantee and for the price it simply can not be beat. I recently sent several back that I have had over the years among my 3 tanks which total 9 heaters being used at one time. They replaced them without any problems. You can not ask for more than that. They stood by there product because they said we strive to make a trouble free product for life. Those are very high standards. Which we should come to expect considering what it is that we are caring for not just fish but our pets that we consider part of our family just like our dogs and cats.
Was sent this to replace another recalled Steatlh, and it worked for two months. Indicator light would work but it wouldnt heat. 3rd Marineland heater being sent back to manufacturer for refund in past two months.
Garbage product. Any heater that overcooks your fish tank is unreliable, especially after one year only. Seems like many other people are having this problem with this particular brand. Stay away from visitherm.

"Not too shabby!"
I've had 3 of these heaters in 3 of my tanks and I have never had a problem. On the other hand I have tried different heaters and have had problems with them. If your worried about the glass they now make plastic guards for these heaters.
I purchased two of these heaters for separate tanks. The glass is extremely brittle, and one broke while I was gently cleaning it. The second ramped the heat in my tank up to 86 F without warning, almost frying my precious fish and their fry! Needless to say I will never buy one of these again, and I hope you don't either!
I had one in my 55gal and it broke. Wife freeked out thinking the fish were going to swim in it and get cut, had to get it out before i left for work and install a spare. I have two theo's in my 125gal alot easier to adjust the temp and no problems as of yet very happy with them.......Stay away from these from reading other replys im not the only one who doesn't like them.
i had been using ebo-jager heaters in all my tanks, but at the recomendation of a friend who had kept fish for well over 30 years i bought one of these. the temp control switch was very hard to turn, it would not keep the tank at a steady temperature and i always had to adjust it 5-8 degrees higher then what was required for the fish just to acheive the correct temp throughout the tank. will not use them again, ebo-jager is much better in my opinion.
I have gone through 2 of the 150 watt heaters. My Silver Tip sharks have broken both of them. (All within 2 weeks of buying them). I will never buy a glass heater again. Infact I have 2 Stealth (250 watt) on order right now. Reinforced plastic is the way to go.
"This heater has one of the largest return rates of all brands"
I own a store and have had a large number of these returned due to malfunctions and defects. The seals seem to go frequently and the stick on and kill fish on a regular. I will not be recomending these P.O.S. heaters.

I have 2 of these heaters going on 4 years old never had a problem.
I currently have 2 of these heaters in use and they are both great. Wal-Mart sells their own re-branded version for half of what other heaters cost.
I started using these heaters after some local aquarists turned me on to them after the seals went on 2 Ebo-Jager heaters I had owned. As advertised, the heater is accurate within 1 degree and once set my tanks are a perfect, steady temperature. I'd recommend these heaters to anyone.
I have 2 of these units and they seemed to be very good untill this past weekend. It looks as if water might have got in side some how. To make along story short the water tempature rose to over 86 degrees not sure how hot it really got. But I came home from work and my 2-female and 1-male Brichardi and approximatley 200 babies were all dead. I have had the adults for a year and they have been spawning constantly since Febuary. I got the water tempatute down to 84 but it also killed a ink fin Calvus that was beautiful. I will be taking a look at the other one, I don't know why it would malfunction after a year of use.
I've owned two of these heaters in the past 3 years. The quality is okay but the temperature fluctutes a little more with these heaters and the temperature knob is extremely difficult to turn.. It's an o.k. heater but not up to ebo jager standards for about the same coin..
I bought 3 of these when they came out with the lifetime warranty and my guess is they will be in the red on the books with this product as these don't keep a constant temp, stick and just plain suck. I would not recommend this product to anyone as I believe it is a lesser product in many aspects and I have had issues with all three heaters. I had some of the older ones as well and they seemed to be a little better then the new ones and I would say that a Visi-therm is a Ford while an Ebo is a Lexus.

I have been using these heaters on my tanks for years. they have never let me down. setting it up is trouble free. these heaters are effective and affordable. i will always use visi-therm heaters.
I have had no trouble with the heater except for when I am changing the temp. The hardest knob I have ever turned. I had to get one of those plastic jar openers to assist me in moving the knob. I do like the stealth line of Visi-Therm, durable (made of plastic), black, and easy to set.
I ordered one from Big Al's and after a week in the tank it broke itself. I have no idea how, but I came home and a piece of glass from the side of the tube was laying on the substrate. It just blew right out, all on its own. No fish in tank, never dropped or smacked it, total mystery. Big Al sent me a replacement right out, no extra charge, and I love it. The new one works great and keeps the temp within 1 degree (200 watt model in a 42 galon). Maybe I originally got a bad one or it was damaged in shipping. In any event, they have a lifetime warranty from Marineland. I plan on buying more should I set up any new tanks.

"10 Years and still working"
I have 3 of these one is 10 years old the other 2 are the new ones . Seams to work for me .
I've owend a couple of these heaters though I can't remember the sizes. The first problem I noticed was the temperature that it was set at, was NOT the temperature it ran at. If you have one, be sure to test it against an accurate thermometer. Both heaters ended up broken in a box in the attic.
I have had visi-therms in both my 55 gal. and my 10 gal. tanks for 2 1/2 years now and I dont think the temp in either tank has ever varied more than a degree or two. In the 55 i have some large and active Haps and have never had a problem with any fish breaking the heater. A great product!
these must be the most fragile heaters made. whenever my silver dollars accidentally swipes the heater you can actually hear the heating element shake! also callibration is a little off(mine is set to 86f to keep the tank at 82f)but not as bad as Acura heaters.looks like I have to order another Ebo Jager soon.
i have had a visi therm 200watt heater in my 35 gallon saltwater aquarium, after six months of great use, it started over heating the aquarium, i have it now set at 75 degrees, but the therm says the water is 80 degrees, a great heater for six months, after that watch out...
"Marineland should hire me to test thier products."
I've been using the original Visi-Therms for years...the models that were originally designed and owned by Aquarium Systems. I had two 300watt original units in my 125gal. for four years(never gave a problem), finally they started to fail. So the first replacements I had in mind were...Visi-Therms. I noticed that Marineland had bought-out Aquarium Systems and decided to do an overhaul on these heaters. Why they felt the need to do that I do not know. The original heaters were very light, durable, accurate, the thermostat dial turned smoothly and the suction brackets held them to the tank firmly. What else does one need out of a heater? So now comes the Marineland update...The thermostat dial is really a pain in the but when you'd like to raise or lower the temp from inside the tank, one practically needs a friggin' pair of pliers to turn it! Then there's the suction brackets...they could disconnect if a Zebra Danio ran into them! The glass housing itself weighs twice as much with abunch of rubber logo laminate around them, which means more little crevices for algea to grow in, which in turn makes for a more difficult cleaning! Thennn they shortened the power cord by about 6"'s. Thennn they try to brush all this up by giving you brighter packaging with more pictures on the box....Whoooo Caaaares!! Well that's my review, there you have it.
Bought 5 of these heaters to place in tanks of various sizes. One year later there was condensation on the inside of several of them. Customer service was great, replaced all the heaters no questions asked; however, two of the new heaters nearly cooked two of my fry tanks. Will never buy another visi-therm.
These are very high quality products, and with any high quality product, you get excellent performance. I have never had a problem with the 2 of them in my 125 gallon, and I am not worried about my large Cichlids damaging them.
These heaters are great, accurate, and easy to use. I had a 50 watt visi therm on my 10 gallon for a few months now and it works great. It keeps the temperature consistently at 78 F. The only complaint is that I always have to set it slightly higher than the desired temperature, so for example, I have to set it to 80 to get the water at 78, but it still does the job really well. I recommend them over any other heater and will be getting another one soon for my new tank. Great product overall.
I use a 200W in my 25G tank and I set it at 78 degrees and the tank stays at 78 degrees. A pleasant surprise from other heaters. It is good it is so accurate because you practicaly need vise-grips to turn the temperature dial!!
In new 10-gallon I added a 50-watt heater (both packaging and store staff said that was correct size). Set at 76, heater produced 78 degree water fairly consistently. After 2 weeks, came home last night to find tank temp shot up to 85, which nearly killed fish and did kill my plants. Am replacing heater this morning; it still won't come even close to being accurate (now is set at 70 and producing 75 degree tank).
i use a 150watt for my 55gal, the heater is in the sump, the temp in the tank stays at what my heater is set to. relatively new heater though. since it's in the sump it hardly ever gets banged around, my only concern is that it just looks a little fragile for the price.
They're not necessarily low-cost, but not the most expensive either... but my experience has been great, mine is realiable, very easy to use, easy to read, easy to install, and i never have had to worry about it breaking or not keeping up...
"Visi-Therm a little pricey but a decent Submersible Heater"
A good heater but the adjustment knob need's to be a little bigger around.Have not had any major problems with this heater but it does loose a few degrees every once in a while. I use Visi-Therm & Ebo-Jager the Ebo in my opinion is a much better heater it is more acurate than the Visi-Therm and you can order the Ebo-Jager online cheaper than the Visi-Therm,Anyway yes i would highly recommend the Visi-Therm Heater anything Marineland put's out is usualy a pretty product.
1) The setting knob is too small. 2) One heater was retired after a years plus use because the setting knob became too stiff to operate. 3) Have lost 2 heaters to incidental exposure to air while on. Exposure to ANY glass part below the recommended max lower limit caused breakage. 4) Delicate. Lost 2 more heaters to being jarred by moving rocks around inside tank during cleaning. Verdict: I Do NOT recommend this heater! There are much sturdier built ones out there at the same price.
I started out with the non-submersible el-cheapo units, broke one and electrocuted my fish (tiger barbs, they were a menace, but they didn't deserve to die). The fish store recommended this heater to me, and this is what I have used ever since in the many tanks that I have had. They are completely submersible, which should not even be an option. The thermostat knob is a little small in diameter for my big fingers, but mine just keeps on working so I have no reason to replace it.
These heaters seem to have a great thermostat on them... I set my when I setup my last tank... my temperature has stayed at the temperature that I set and has never moved... seems to work great .. and never really needs to be adjusted for seasons or anything like that....

I have used this heater for 10 years and have never had any sort of "disaster" happen, such as cooked or frozen fish. it is veryacurate and is very esey to set to the needed temperature (the nob is kind of hard to turn though).
