The fact of the matter is that every company that has made heaters have seen there share of horror stories related to there product. It seem as though no matter what technology improvements they come up with they will not be able to make the perfect heater. Just like any other product they are destined to fail at some point. The Visi Therm is one of very few heaters sold that come with a lifetime guarantee and for the price it simply can not be beat. I recently sent several back that I have had over the years among my 3 tanks which total 9 heaters being used at one time. They replaced them without any problems. You can not ask for more than that. They stood by there product because they said we strive to make a trouble free product for life. Those are very high standards. Which we should come to expect considering what it is that we are caring for not just fish but our pets that we consider part of our family just like our dogs and cats.
Was sent this to replace another recalled Steatlh, and it worked for two months. Indicator light would work but it wouldnt heat. 3rd Marineland heater being sent back to manufacturer for refund in past two months.
Had a 200 watt that lasted 5 years...It just recently died, when i took it out of the tank & the glass tube shattered...After such a long time i'd say i got my moneys worth...
Garbage product. Any heater that overcooks your fish tank is unreliable, especially after one year only. Seems like many other people are having this problem with this particular brand. Stay away from visitherm.

"Not too shabby!"
I've had 3 of these heaters in 3 of my tanks and I have never had a problem. On the other hand I have tried different heaters and have had problems with them. If your worried about the glass they now make plastic guards for these heaters.
I purchased two of these heaters for separate tanks. The glass is extremely brittle, and one broke while I was gently cleaning it. The second ramped the heat in my tank up to 86 F without warning, almost frying my precious fish and their fry! Needless to say I will never buy one of these again, and I hope you don't either!
I had one in my 55gal and it broke. Wife freeked out thinking the fish were going to swim in it and get cut, had to get it out before i left for work and install a spare. I have two theo's in my 125gal alot easier to adjust the temp and no problems as of yet very happy with them.......Stay away from these from reading other replys im not the only one who doesn't like them.
i had been using ebo-jager heaters in all my tanks, but at the recomendation of a friend who had kept fish for well over 30 years i bought one of these. the temp control switch was very hard to turn, it would not keep the tank at a steady temperature and i always had to adjust it 5-8 degrees higher then what was required for the fish just to acheive the correct temp throughout the tank. will not use them again, ebo-jager is much better in my opinion.
I have gone through 2 of the 150 watt heaters. My Silver Tip sharks have broken both of them. (All within 2 weeks of buying them). I will never buy a glass heater again. Infact I have 2 Stealth (250 watt) on order right now. Reinforced plastic is the way to go.
"This heater has one of the largest return rates of all brands"
I own a store and have had a large number of these returned due to malfunctions and defects. The seals seem to go frequently and the stick on and kill fish on a regular. I will not be recomending these P.O.S. heaters.

"Great Product!"
I have 2 of these heaters going on 4 years old never had a problem.
I currently have 2 of these heaters in use and they are both great. Wal-Mart sells their own re-branded version for half of what other heaters cost.
I started using these heaters after some local aquarists turned me on to them after the seals went on 2 Ebo-Jager heaters I had owned. As advertised, the heater is accurate within 1 degree and once set my tanks are a perfect, steady temperature. I'd recommend these heaters to anyone.
I have 2 of these units and they seemed to be very good untill this past weekend. It looks as if water might have got in side some how. To make along story short the water tempature rose to over 86 degrees not sure how hot it really got. But I came home from work and my 2-female and 1-male Brichardi and approximatley 200 babies were all dead. I have had the adults for a year and they have been spawning constantly since Febuary. I got the water tempatute down to 84 but it also killed a ink fin Calvus that was beautiful. I will be taking a look at the other one, I don't know why it would malfunction after a year of use.
