Cichlid Lake Salt is a chemically sound blend of salts designed to replicate the natural environment of Rift Lake African Cichlids. It contains all physiologically essential elements such as magnesium, calcium, sodium, potassium, and includes trace components such as iron, aluminum, and iodide.
This really is a great product. I just warn you to take into consideration of the pH and hardness of your water before adding the product. I live in south Texas where half of the required dosage does the job.
Before using this product my yellow labs just seemed, well, yellow. After just a few weeks using this product they have gone electric. Color is great, attitudes are great. By using my Malawi buffer with these cichlid lake salts my tank is now more like a piece of Malawi in my own home. I've been very happy with this product!!! I do not know where others have been purchasing this, it isn't cheap like regular aquarium salt, but it is FAR from expensive. Plus, the improvement of my water quality was well worth the few extra pennies spent!
I used to us Kents version. I was cheaper... BUT. I had to use alot more of Kents product to maintain GH. Way more cost affective. All my Malawis are breeding even the F0s. Only gripe is that it can be a pain to disolve and i dont like to see my fish swallow salt. They dont seem to mind though. Get the BIG tub from Big Als, itl last a long time
Just wish there was more product for the buck... it gets a little spendy and it needs to be used every water change. However, I dont think I would run my tank without it. My fish are extremely healthy since this product has been administered.
i gave this stuff a try (the liquid stuff)on the reccomendation of a friend. i was pretty skeptical but i must admit my fish do seem to be more happy and active since i started using it. only problem is if u use as directed it will not last long at all. it is a good product, but i don't think it's nescessary. i'm not sure yet if i will buy more once this bottle runs out
Apparently this product does indeed help to create an environment close to that in the wild. My fish spawn constantly and this is the only product I use for all my tanks.
Dissolving it is a bit of a pain as it can sometimes take 2 to 3 days for it to completely break down in water. Other than that it is a breeze to use and lasts a long time when kept tightly closed. Of course large quantities are cheaper to buy.
