I've used BioSpira several times, and in each case it took me exactly 10 days to fully cycle. That's not what the product claims, but then 10 days sure beats 6 weeks! Product is not dated for expiration so you have no way of knowing if it is out of date, however I've never had a bad batch, it's worked every time I tried it. I did have spikes from both ammonia and nitrite, but in ten days I was fully cycled.
After all the good reviews here, I went for it. I do have to say that it did a great job on the amonia, but did nothing for the nitrites. The customer service people did tell me that the bacteria for the nitrites is more 'touchy' and that they had got some of the same feedback as I gave. By the way, nothing else was added to the tank besides fish.
Bought a 55G setup with 16 fish. When I picked it up, the lady had drained it, baged the fish and turned of the filters. I refilled it, and put them back in. The next day I learned about Bio-Spira. Within 24hrs I had O Ammonia and with 48hrs I had 0 nitrites! Been that way ever since.
The last time I cycled a tank was 20 years ago. It WAS one of the most annoying parts of the hobby. Let's face it, nobody likes to wait for two months adding a couple of fish at a time. I got back in the hobby with a 150 gal tank, let the water filter for a week with 3 syn. cats the found out about BIO-Spira. Added the product and 15 fish together (scary huh?) but it worked. I added 15 fish a week for the next two weeks. 45 fish in 3 weeks! ZERO amonia!!!!

I WAS MEDICATING MY TANK AND THE AMONIA WENT SKY HIGH AND LOST MY FAVORITE OSCAR IDID A 50% WATER CHANGE AND ADDED THIS AND THE NEXT DAY IT WENT DOWN TO ALMOST 0 BY THE THIRD DAY NO TRACE OF AMONIA OR NITRITES.
