A nutritious and balanced food formulated for various species of cichlids including African and South/Central American species. Contains high levels of Amino Acids and Fatty Acids along with natural pigments and stabilized Vitamin C. Never clouds aquarium water.
I buy this online as the Wal...Sells online cichlid flakes for $5 a can and it is ALWAYS crumbs. I can buy a lot more 7.5 oz vs 2 oz for 8 bucks and it isn't crubled. But it does stink. What do you use when you fish? Liver? BTY never leave it (liver) in the car on a hot day lol. Better and cheaper for me. The LFS wants around 20 for the same thing
Why does it matter what it smells like? If it does a good job and it is healthy I dont see the big deal it does have a cap you know. Anyways it is great the dwarfs love it. And I always get the best colors out of them from it.
I had been using this product for about 9 months before I threw the remainder out. I kept it in the fridge, and did not notice a bad smell. However, the flakes are so when I had used all but about a fourth of the container that I felt compelled to ditch it. Maybe it was a bad batch-- the OSI Spirulina kept its size and shape just fine (bought it as the same time and place as the cichlid flake.) Wouldn't recommend it for this reason, although the fish seemed to like it.
All my mbuna seem to love this food as much as every other food except for two of them. When the flakes hit the water both of these fish will start up to the surface with the rest of the pack but it seems they must SMELL itlong before they get near it, for they will turn suddenly and return to the bottom where they, for lack of a better word: SULK. I've been using this food for months and these two mbuna will not touch it. I think it's a good quality flake and I actually enjoy watching thier reaction to it. Spoiled fish!
Ok, it is strong smelling but not that bad. I feed this stuff often to my cichlids with the OSI Spirulina flakes and this makes quite a balanced meal for the little gaffers. It is a really great flake food that I have repeatedly bought.
Not refused by any of my fish, and has good nutritional value. It also smells bad, and is hard to crumble. Overall, a really good product and I have no intentions of switching.
I use this as a staple food for my cichlids. They seem to ove it. I dont notice any of that bad smell thateveryone here is talking about unless it is something that develops over time. I bought the small container, maybe that way it wont go bad and start smelling bad.
I don't think it smells THAT bad! (Does any fish food smell GOOD?!) Yes, it's hard to crumble but my fish love it and seem quite healthy with this as a key part of a varied diet.
I have to wash my hands after every feeding. I ordered the largest size container I could. Whoops. Now I'm feeding this as much as I can so I can get rid of it. Also, the flakes are very soft. If you need to crumble them, it's very hard.
My fish all enjoyed this product. I could not personally take 'The Stench'. My wife got so concerned about the foul smell oozing out of the cabinet where I kept this product, she was positive a fish was decomposing nearby! NOT Recommended......
