And really, what more can you ask for?
I left for a 16-day vacation to Dallas, TX - and needed a feeder - I chose this one because of price & an airline attachment to keep food dry.
Before leaving, I tested it for 3 days, and on 1 of the 3 days, the food got stuck… I do not think because of moisture, but because the flake that was at the bottom of the cup (at the opening) was too big, and the rest of the food was not able to drop through. I hooked the airline tube up, and was sure to crush all food going into the feeder, and the rest of the test days went off without a hitch.
After returning, I found only one of the food receptacles still full – I cannot complain. All in all, the unit worked just fine for me…
It is a wide, relatively flat plastic platform, that has a timer inside, and little tabs that fit on the timer that rotate the food receptacle ring. As the ring spins around, it will eventually reach a hole through the bottom. The timer has holes for up to 4 feedings a day down to 1 feeding a day.
I ended up having to lay the unit across the top of my light strip, and let the food fall behind the light, into the tank where there is an opening in the lid. It is not the easiest unit to attach to the tank.
Overall, I am pleased with the performance, and do not regret buying the feeder. I still do my own day to day feeding, but when I go on my next vacation; I’ll crack out the feeder again…
