The temperature can be precisely adjusted from 64 to 93 degrees F, and can be recalibrated if required. The control accuracy is +/- 2 degrees F
The heat is kept at a constant level. The heating function is indicated by a control lamp.
The heater can be fully immersed, is protected against dry running and is suitable for fresh or marine water.
The glass jacket enlarges the heating surface and ensures optimum even heat emission.
Laboratory quality glass jacket. This glass was developed for research purposes. Therefore it is free from pollutants that could be released in water. It is resistant to chemical and biological substances. It does not have any fissures and hair cracks through which condensation water could penetrate. And even extreme fluctuations of temperature that can occur when the water is changed do not bother this glass.
This may have been a bad batch or a defected heater (very possibly) but I set it to 80F and no matter what I did afterwards (Following instructions, removing plug before setting, etc etc watching videos asking in forums) It would never again budge from 80F. (My water temp that is). I tried for 3 weeks and gave up today, petsandponds accepted a return. Not sure which heater to get now as the others have ugly reviews too..maybe this was just a defected one?
Update: Actually one can look at the Amazon reviews and see there are many complaints about Eheim heaters, I will go with the Aqueon. German Engineering...right...
I have these heaters on all of my tanks now. They are built like a tank. Do a great job heating, super thick glass and reliable. The only downside is they are very large, to the point where most tanks aren't tall enough to mount vertically and you have to slant them on a diagonal to prevent the top from coming out of the water and going below the minimum water line.
I've used these for a long time. Went away to try something else that was tougher for my BIG Cichlids. This incarnation of the EBO is the best yet. Once calibrated it NEVER drifts more than 1/2 degree. PERFECT except for the suction cups they still suck, but i now use the new Azoo magnetic holders work much better in the long run.
I haven't met a heater I liked yet...until this one. Temp was accurate since the day it was set. Temp doesn't fluctuate more than .5 degree. I check my temp 3 times a day and have been very happy with this heater so far. I agree with GTZ's review that it is impossible to adjust the control ring with one hand, it is even difficult with 2 hands.

I have used Jager heaters of different wattages for years and have never had a problem with any of them. As of this review I have 8 in use and have 2 as backup. Some are 4 & 5 years others are newer. All are submersed and the temp is checked daily. I have a 100 watt Elite by Hagen the tube cracked after a month of use. I have two Hydor 100 watt heaters nether one will maintain a stable tempature.
About a year ago I purchased (2) 150W heaters. Over the last few weeks, one of them has steadily been losing it's ability to keep the tank's temperature at a constant level. I have had to adjust the temperature control 4 times in the last 3 weeks. After replacing the heater, upon inspection, I noticed that there was condensation near the bottom as well as what appeared to be some sort of brown material collected inside the glass at the bottom, presumably rust. One final item I should add is the difficulty involved in adjusting the control ring, it's impossible to adjust single handedly unlike other heaters available on the market.
