Easily attaches to all standard aquariums. Holds a variety of pellet or flake food. No overfeeding or underfeeding cycles. Feeds 1-4 times per day automatically. Optional Hopper available to extend feedings for four months.
although it they say you can use it with pellets, but if you use the hopper the pellets will jam the feed wheel and as the motor spins it creates more and more pressure, and once it unjams the pressure is so great it slingshots the feed wheel unloading 4 or 5 days worth of food at one time an major design flaw that can kill your fish if left unattended for an extended period of time. I now use this for flakes only, and have not had any problems with it yet, although i strongly recommend the use of a digital feeder over the use of this, or any mechanical feeder because they offer far greater control and accuracy of feed times and amounts
I travel 15 to 20 days a month. This was the first feeder I tried. I returned it after the first test run. It malfunctioned and fed my fish six times that night. What a mess plus the fish gorged themselves. I now use the Nutramatic Profeed feeder which is ok and the Eheim feeder which is fantastic.
"Great automatic feeder that has never failed me on vacation trips!"
I purchased this feeder to drop flakes, round pellets, and rod pellets into the aquarium while I am on vacation. Works great with all these. I have not had any problems with this feeder, and unlike someone elses comments, my feeder dispenses the entire load of food instantaneously when it is time to dispense food. this feeder gives you the option to feed the fish 1, 2, or 4 times a day. The hopper also works great, because it allows me to many weeks worth of food into the the feeder at one time.
I've had this thing with the hopper for 2 years. I bought it because it was the only plug in one, all the others seem to be battery operated. That other review is incorrect btw it's not possible for this thing to dump more than one "feeding" worth of food at a time. That's also it's major problem there is no way to adjust the amount that it feeds when using the hopper. Without it you can decrease of course but it only holds 14 feedings -that you have to fill BY HAND individually!! You can choose up to four feedings a day but they are only programable at six hour intervals (6pm, 12pm, 6am, 12am, etc.) The feeder is basicaly a clock with the hour hand clicking off the feeding intervals. BTW-To change frequency you've got change the amount of hour hands that are attached to the clock!! PAin in the rear! BUT it does work to that degree and it does plug in. Small pellets work best with this, they don't get stuck and 3/4 of them will feed imediately and the rest over 3 minutes. Enough for 12-18 3-5 inch fish. (no more no less)
Tested once, but apparently burned out immediately using pellets with optional hopper. Might have been OK with flakes, but advertised for pellets and couldn't hack it.
has used this product for 1-3 Years.

"good feeder- compared to what is out there"
i just wanted to give a little more balaanced veiw of this expensive- but in my experience- good feeder. compared to the hagen, daily double, and the fish mate, i think this gets the gold price! i have never had a problem with it and the fish learn quikly where they are now fed. although the eheim is definitly better, it is almost 2x the price (at least where i bought it).
I have 3 different automatic feeders and out of them all this is the worst one. It was by far the most expensive and is easily the worst to use. Loading the little chambers is a pain. It dispenses the food slowly instead of dropping the whole chamber into the tank. It gets stuck constantly and drops 4-5 days worth of food into the tank at one time. I have had to remove it from the tank. I ordered it online and when I recieved it, it was also much smaller than I would have guessed. I was looking for something for a large tank. This certainly isn't the answer.
