"Stay Away! You Get What You Pay For!"
I share the same sentiments with the last reviewer. Upon leaving on vacation, I found out the food quickly became moist and stunk. I even found hundreds of maggots.

"doesn't work the way it should"
despite the fact that this feeder was made to point up all the time, keeping moisture out of the PLASTIC housing where th food is held, this feeder STILL becomes extremely moist within a day or two. I left it on the tank and people who had come by the house checking on it said that it had become all disgusting and dirty inside. Any sane person (unfortunately, this wasn't me until after the experience) who understands science should be able to see that plastic, over hot, evaporating water, will steam or fog up on the inside. its what happens to the plastic or glass over your aquarium light, and its the same thing for this plastic feeder housing. It will just end up being a big mess that you have to clean up (and STINKY).

"FInally a Feeder That Keeps the Food DRY!"
The simple design always keep the feeding tube pointed "up", so it doesn't spoil or moisten the food like other feeders. Reliable at a good price. Comes with free food too. Depending on flake size, you will have to adjust the output. Always use the same fish food so you don't have to re-do the setting.

I have used it 4 times for vacation every time I was gone for 2 weeks and it always worked (still on my first set of batteries after 2 years). The only thing is that the clamp could be a little wider since I had a problem getting it over the top mold of the tank ad broke part of it. I can't screw it into place anymore so I have it just sitting on the top of the top molding but it still works just fine. The only drawback is that you have to time when you put the batteries in since exactly 12 hours after you put them in it will feed for the first time and then every 12 hours after that.

"Good enough"
Spend a few days testing this thing out on a kitchen counter where you can see how much food is being dispensed before you start using it. It will never be exact, but it works great for vacations. Keeps your fish alive, which is more than I can say last time I went on holidays and left another human being in charge (humans make great companions, but they're not always the best fish feeders).

this atomatic feeder is very well made yet it is very difecult to ajust the amount fed. the large "drum" that holds food often dumps less or more than one would like the automatic feeder that is made by rainbow life guard. that way you can choose EXACTLY how much you want fed.
