14 gram reservoir. The everyday fish feeder. Battery powered, feeds even during power failure. Dispenses flakes, pellets or freeze dried treats up to 2 times a day. Dispenser opening is oriented upward to reduce moisture intake. Digitally accurate clock. Button activation for manual operation
this is a great digital feeder. i have used it for years and have not had a problem. it has never clogged, or got stuck or have had any problems at all, it is very easy to set up, its feeding times are consistant and programmable (not every 12h like a mech. feeder)its potion despensing is accurate and consistant and it even has a manual feed button to test the amount that is dispersed. i have run this product for 2+ years and have not yet had to change the batteries. in conclusion this is an awesome product that i have used for years as a fool proof way to feed my fish
I have 25 tanks and travel 15 to 20 days a month. I've tried three types of Auto Feeders. I do still use this one but have returned for warrenty replacement (within 6 months) 15% of the feeders. The two problems I've had to return the feeders for are: eating batteries very fast - the batteries wouldn't even last two weeks, and jamming half way around - the turning mechanism is very weak. An additional complaint is that you cannot tell when the batteries are getting low or are dead. As a result I have to test every one of the feeders the day before I go out of town so I can replace the batteries if needed. It takes all day to set the feeders as you simply press the first button at the time of day that you want the first feeding to occur. Then wait till later in the day to press the second button at the time of day you want the second feeding to occur. I will use this feeder on my adult only tanks, fry tanks get the more reliable Eheim feeder. One plus to this feeder is that it has never fed too many times like the Lifegard Auto Feeder did.
this is a great feeder to use when going on vacation. i have used it on several occasions and it has worked without fail. because of it's openess to the environment i chose not to use it for flake over my tank so i can not comment on it's effectiveness in that regard. i would probably be fine with low humidity. in my experience with pellits, it worked like a champ for over 2 weeks strait. it is also cheap (easy to find for around $30) and holds lots of food.
I decided to buy an automatic feeder for my cichlids as I'm going away on vacation for two weeks and no one can take care of them. I bought it a couple of weeks in advance as I wanted to test it and see if it would work. My crux came 3 days into the testing, the food reservoir was full of humidity and therefore the automatic feed stopped functionning as the food clogged due to the humidity. I do not recommend this feeder for its price, I would ponney up the extra $30 and by the automatic feeder by Eheim. Two good points to note, it fits in my automatic feeder slot like a charm and is very easy to use!
