"If only they can hang on my tanks."
I like AC filters in general. Just sorry I cannot use them on my larger tanks (Oceanic, ect). The lip of the tank is too wide so the filters cannot fit onto the tanks.

"Quality and easy to assemble"
For the price, I don't think you can beat the Aquaclear Power Filters. I bought a 70 for my 46 gallon bowfront and it took me 10 minutes to assemble. Worked perfectly right out of the box and came with very detailed instructions. Liked it so much I bought another one for my 29 gallon tank. If you're going with a cascade-style filter, this is definitely what I would recommend. And I only paid $40. If you're a beginner/novice aquarist, this is a great choice. It's very simple to assemble and clean and it works very well.

"Average filter !!!"
Using a 110 AC on my 30 gal. grow out tank. Well built and easy to maintain.

Edited my review:
After more than 2 years of use, because of the large amount of by-pass flow built in to this filter, I've come to the conclusion this filter is just average. For the price, your money will be better spent on a different type of filter.

"Good old reliable"
well made, a little noisey with the lids on but really easy to clean and maintain. I love the fact that it has a bucket essentially to put whatever you want in. No replacement filters specifically designed for the filter needed. Just get some media bags and throw whatever you want in it. Does a great job.

"The Cadillac"
When I worked at a pet store in the early 1990s this is what I was pushing. Here's a filter that matches its promised flow, no replaceable cartridges, and it just plain works. Why buy anything else...even after 20 years?

I use ti have a marineland filter with the bio-wheel,and it was an ok filter then around 3 months it wasnt working right and my water was alaways cloudy, mold would build up on the filters. Today i went and got a aquaclear 50 filter for my 30 gallon tank and WHAT A CHANGE!!! my water went from dull and cloudy to crystal clear in about 3 hours this filter is GREAT!

"Going downhill"
I used to swear by these filters and used them for years on all of my tanks. Now they have changed the sponge to be more porous and it allows too much debris through. Before the change my water was always crystal clear with great quality. Now I have "floaties" in my tank.

Time to finally make the switch to the world of canisters i guess

"best power filter for cost"
Solid performer and easy to use and maintain. New bio-max pouch has made initial new tank cycling much easier with proper water additives, water changes and rinse of sponge a snap. My ammonia and nitrites are zero after 24 days.

"bad mechanical filtration"
I have a aquaclear 50. It has great bio, good chemical, but horrible mechanical. The sponge is too porus so it allows to much debris to go through it. And on the impeller cover there is a small hole for primming but it also allows debris the bypass the sponge by going through it, but the filter is very quiet, have good bio which a very important thing.

I've been using these filters for years without any problems. They are the most powerful HOB filter out on the market.I highly recommend to get one or more for your aquarium or aquariums.I own 2-110's,1-50,and had a 70.My water in my aquariums are crystal clear and the chemistry is perfect.I can't praise these filters enough for there quality of performance.I've tried other brands of filters like Tetra and Aqeon. Those brands didn't give me the power of filtration that I was looking for and needing.Put it this way,I have a 75 gallon with 2-11 inch Oscars,1-11 inch pleco, and 1-4 inch rubbernose pleco.I need superb filtration for my fish.I also have a Rena filstar xp2 on the 75 gallon for a maximum of 1300 GPH.My tank is crystal clear. If I were you,I would go get one of these excellent filters today or in the future. You won't regret it.

"Best Power Filter"
There really isn't anything better than these for power filters. Most other power filters have the same design (Including Biowheel's) of water going through some type of single vertical media with charcoal inside. Once the vertical media gets clogged up, water starts going around and over it if you're not paying attention. With Aquaclears, if the 3 stage media gets clogged, the media starts lifting up but water is still forced through the multiple stages of media...it doesn't get much better than that.

I have 4 of the 50 gallon models between 3 tanks and I noticed a significant difference in water clearness and quality when they were added to the tank with existing filtration (Some canister and some power filters).

The media replacement is pretty low cost but isn't needed often. I don't like using the charcoal longer than the original one lasts and it's unnecessary with frequent water changes. The foam insert and bio bag can be rinsed and reused.

These filters rock and I've never heard anyone say otherwise.

"Best Power Filter On The Market"
I have owned and tried many types of HOB filters, and after trying many other brands (including Aqueon, Cascade, Eheim Liberty, Penguin, Top Fin, and whisper) I have found that Aquaclears are THE BEST. They are almost like mini canister filters, because you can customize media to your specific needs. They are simple, easy to use, and customizable. Aquaclear Rocks!
