A different approach than the library book one, this video features several Nicaraguan cichlids and their habitats. The commentary is rather droll, and watching several minutes of cichlids bobbing in current may seem boring, but for a true hobbyist this is dynamite. Yes, it is difficult to think of this as a resource you can refer back to (although, thankfully, the systematics of most Nicaraguan cichlids are fairly obvious), but the active participation involved in watching the video yields good memory recall later. And it is just plain fun.
Considering the dearth of video footage of New World cichlids (particularly Central Americans), any addition to a hobbyist library should be considered valuable. So much more so this one, which actually delivers crisp, clear images of living fish in their natural habitat displaying natural behavior. Highly recommended.
