"Stuck in the on position after ~10 months"
After reading some decent review on this product I decided to replace my visi therm deluxe heater in my tank which was still working after 8-9 years of usage. The reason I replaced it was because nothing last forever and I was doing it as a safety measure. Well this via aqua heater failed yesterday sticking on and the water got really warm.

"works for me"
WOW, a lot of bad reviews for this heater. I usually check review before buying, but bought a 200w on a recommendation. Had I read these reviews first, I wouldn't have bought it. However, I've had it for a year and it has worked great. Keeps the temp right on in my 55g.

"Worked great for me"
I had two 200W heaters on a 240G and they did not hold the temp up at night. One died quickly, and I replaced both with the 300W version. The 300W heaters are still running without a hitch four years later, and hold the temperature perfectly on a 240G tank. The remaining 200W went to a 29G tank, and also still runs perfectly four years later.

Judging from other reviews there seem to be some quality control problems, but for me these heaters have delivered!

"Poor quality"
I had two stop working within the first year of use. A third I threw away because every time I put my hand in the water, I felt a 'tingling' like electric current. Dangerous piece of junk, don't buy it.

"Thermostat was stuck on from the beginning"
I hooked this heater up, set the temperature and the thermostat never turned off even after it reached the set temp. Thank God I didn't have any fish in the tank or they would of been fried. I really like the concept of a heater with an out-of-water controller; unfortunately, this product is cheaply built and not worth your money. I used to have a PRO WON II which was 100% reliable, much much better heater than the Via. I'm trying a Stealth now... hopefully that is better.

"Very good heater"
I bought this the 100W heater for my 30gal tank and it heats the water pretty well, once heated the temperature is very stable. I would buy it again, it's not the best, but it definitely isn't the worst either. I've had this heater for about 18-20 months and have not had one problem with it. Works great!

"Junk! Heater won't turn off"
Don't waste your $ on this p.o.s. I bought one a couple months back and have now resorted to an old, worn-out (but still working) heater from a smaller tank. The via-Aqua heater more than once has been removed from the tank because of not shutting off. Last night the tank water was up around 88 when I had it set for 72! I've had enough. It's going in the garbage and I'll get something else that actually works.

"Still not sure"
I bought one of these for my 55 and one for my 75 (darn fish kept breaking the glass ones). The one in the 55 is still going strong after 2 years and it keeps the temp stable.

The one on the 75, however, broke after a year. Something in the control unit fried.

That said, I'm willing to give it one last try when it gets cold enough for me to need a heater in the 75 again.

"Did not last a year"
Although when working this was a great product. Temperature remained staed and the external control was great. It stopped working after 6 months. No Good.

"You get what you pay for?"
I bought ten of these because they were cheap and expected them to fail within in year but just needed something to get me by. Well, it has been over a year and not one has failed me. I have all different kinds from 50-300 and they all do a good job. I like them better than Visi-therm but seriously doubt these will outlast an Ebo.

"2yrs and heating"
When we turned our livebearer tanks into a cichlid tank we opted to upgrade from a GLASS heater. We had been using a Proheat for the Oscars and was very satisfied, but when I went to buy another one, I couldn't find one.
I did find a Via Aqua stainless steel heater. We purchased 2 at 300watt and installed them in our bigger tanks.

2 years almost to the date we lost one heater, but the other one is still working.
I'd recomend PRo HEAT but if you can't find one the Via Aqua Stainless steel will do.
Just be prepared to purchase a new heater in a few years.

"just got it a month ago"
so far so good, fish broke my other heater so I needed something a bit tougher, I don't like the blue on blck on the control knob, I also went away on vactaion and came home with the tank @almost 90, don't know why though maybe the housesitter had the room heat too high and the water fell below the thermometer or something but it was cooking....

"Don't buy this product"
The only reason you should buy this product is if you want a heater that will last 1 year under normal use. After reading the other reviews, it seems as if they design their product to fail in less than 2 years. I have a heater that is over 15 years old.
