"Don't plan on this being your primary substrate"
Purchased 4- 20 lb bags for my 90 gallon aquarium. Pictures of this product are inaccurate and misleading. This is a rough product without refinement...sticks, sharp shards of broken white shells and rock mixed in with CaribSea Cichlid Gravel which resembles broken pebbles of tarmac -road surface -blends together for dull and drab gray. This is not appealing to look at. Finally, there has been poor mechanization utilized to refine the sizes of substrate with this product. These are large pieces of rock and shell and road tarmac with jagged edges pointing in all directions. The appearance is similar to putting in the wrong size floor tile in a room making the aquarium seem disproportionately small and crowded. I do not feel this is a quality product. So now it is being used a base substrate and I've added carribean puca shell, aragonite, and pool sand to refine the look and offer more visually appealing environment for my Cichlids. Truly a waste of money in my opinion! Don't purchase 4 bags at once....purchase 1 and look to see if this is what you want. I never found a picture on the internet of someone elses tank with this substrate to look at.

"Nice Gravel"
I mixed this 2:1 with aruba puca shell. Rinsed well, but water was cloudy for about a week, but cleared up crystal clear. Keeps PH at around 8.0. With Hagen Power Glo bulb, makes a great looking substrate.
