This species is very closely related to T. sp. "Mauve" but is sympatric, sharing a habitat at Magunga Reef. "Mauve Yellow" males have a beautiful splash of yellow across the body ("Mauve" males at this location are entirely light blue). Females are completely yellow except for a colorless anal fin.
